WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (June 2, 2011) - With 12 starters returning from last year's squad that claimed the Colonial Athletic Association title and earned the No. 2 seed in the NCAA playoffs, the William and Mary football team recently garnered lofty rankings in a number of preseason polls. Both Sporting News and Athlon Magazine rank the Tribe second nationally, while Lindy's Magazine ranks W&M sixth in the country heading into the upcoming campaign.
A pair of W&M standouts were also recognized individually, as senior tight end Alex Gottlieb and senior running back Jonathan Grimes both earned preseason first-team All-America honors from Athlon. Additionally, Lindy's selected Gottlieb as a first-team All-American, while it tabbed Grimes to the second team.
