Women's Tennis Hosts No. 18 Ole Miss on Tuesday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William and Mary women's tennis team returns to the friendly confines of the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center as it faces in second straight national top-20 foe in No. 18 Mississippi on Tuesday. The match is slated for a 6 p.m. start time in Williamsburg and live stats will be available at TribeAthletics.com.

Following its first setback of the season at No. 3 Duke on Saturday, the College sits at 2-1 on the campaign. W&M opened the season with a doubleheader sweep of defending Atlantic 10 Champion Richmond, 6-1, and UMBC, 6-1, on Jan. 15. The Green and Gold are led by its No. 3 nationally ranked doubles team of juniors Maria Belaya and Jeltje Loomans, who are 11-2 on the season. Senior Anik Cepeda and junior Sydney Smith top W&M in singles wins with nine apiece, while Belaya and freshman Leeza Nemchinov each have eight. All four players possess 2-1 dual match records.

Ole Miss is coming off an 18-9 season which included an 8-3 SEC mark and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Mark Beyers is in his 12th season at the helm of the Rebel program, earning ITA South Region Coach of the Year honors in two of the last three seasons. Mississippi's top player is Carolina Rohde-Moe, who is ranked No. 30 nationally. Rohde-Mo finished the fall at 11-6 overall and was the runner-up in the ITA South Region Singles Championship after earning Second-Team All-SEC honors in 2012. Sophomore Julia Jones was an SEC All-Freshman team selection last season and finished the fall at 8-5.

Following the tilt with the Rebels, the Tribe will travel to Cambridge, Mass., for a pair of matches against nationally-ranked foes over the weekend. The College faces the No. 74-ranked Harvard Crimson on Friday, Jan. 25, at 3 p.m., before meeting No. 67-ranked Kansas State on Saturday, Jan. 26, at noon. Both matches will be played at the Murr Center on Harvard's campus.
