WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Former William and Mary women's tennis standout Megan Moulton-Levy will compete in Roland-Garros, the 2013 French Open, marking the first time she has played in the Grand Slam event in Parris. The former Tribe All-American will take part in the Women's Doubles Draw, beginning on Thursday, May 30, with partner Lauren Davis.
Moulton-Levy has now competed in all four major Grand Slam Doubles Championship draws. She competed in the Championships at Wimbledon in both 2011 and 2012, while taking part in the U.S. Open in 2012. This season, she won her first career Grand Slam match, advancing to the second round of the Australian Open in January.
Moulton-Levy and Davis will face another pair from the United States in Madison Keys and Melanie Oudin on Thursdya. The contest will be the second match on Court 9 at Roland-Garros in Paris with the first match slated to begin at 12:30 p.m. local time (or 6:30 a.m. ET). ESPN2 will have coverage The French Open beginning at 5 a.m. ET and running through 10 a.m., while ESPN3 will also televise portions of the event on Thursday. A six-time All-American at W&M, Moulton-Levy owns 10 career ITF Women's Circuit doubles titles to go along with one singles title during her pro career. She is currently ranked No. 62 in the World Doubles Rankings, the highest of her career. This season, Moulton-Levy advanced to the doubles quarterfinal at her last event in Strasbourg, France after earning semifinal appearances at events in Charleston, W. Va., and Memphis, Tenn., earlier in the campaign.
One of the most decorated players in W&M and CAA history, Moulton-Levy was a two-time winner of the ITA National Arthur Ashe Jr. Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship. A four-time CAA Player of the Year, Moulton-Levy won the most combined (singles and doubles) matches in school history at 249. She still ranks second in program annals with 125 doubles wins, third in singles wins (124) and singles winning percentage (.775) along with being fifth on the doubles winning percentage list (.758). In 2007, Moulton-Levy teamed with 2009 graduate Katarina Zoricic to win the ITA National Indoor Doubles Championship and advance to the finals of the NCAA Doubles Championship.
