William and Mary head women's basketball coach
Debbie Taylor announced the addition of 5-9 small forward
Jazmen Boone (Virginia Beach, Va.) to the Tribe's recruiting class, bringing the College's incoming freshmen to four. In the fall signing period, W&M added three McDonald's All-American nominees in 5-5 point guard
Anna Kestler (Pittsburgh, Pa.), 5-11 guard
Kyla Kerstetter (Brentwood, Tenn.), and 6-4 center
Mackenzie Morrison (Norwalk, Iowa).
Like Tribe great
Tiffany Benson '10 before her, Boone comes to the College from one of the best girl's basketball programs in the country, Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach. During her time with Coach Darnell Dozier, Boone won two Virginia AAA State Championships saving her best basketball for this year's final game where she scored 15 points and eight rebounds in the title game to help the Lady Cavs go 31-1 on their way to the title.
“Jazmen's defensive intensity, competitiveness and toughness on the boards really stood out towards the end of the season. She just plays hard! She brings all of the intangibles that are necessary for sustained success on the basketball court. She is a tireless worker and a great teammate who comes from a strong winning tradition under a great high school coach. We are really excited to add her to this very talented recruiting class,” said Tribe head coach
Debbie Taylor.
With the addition of Boone's title-winning efforts, three of the Tribe's four recruits earned state championships this winter. Boone is also an honor student at Princess Anne, and is very active in the community.
