WIMBLEDON, England - Former William and Mary women's tennis standout Megan Moulton-Levy made her Grand Slam debut in The 125th Championships Wimbledon on Thursday. In the opening round of the Ladies Doubles Main Draw, Moulton-Levy and her partner Lindsay Lee-Waters fell to Marina Erakovic (New Zealand) and Tamarine Tanasugarn (Thailand), 6-3, 6-2.
Moulton-Levy and Lee-Waters earned a qualifying spot in the doubles draw at
Wimbledon on the strength of a pair of victories, including a come-from-behind
three-set triumph to earn a spot in the main draw. A six-time All-American at
W&M, Moulton-Levy owns eight ITF Women's Circuit doubles titles to go along
with one singles title during her pro career. She is currently ranked No. 111
in the World Doubles Rankings and was ranked as high as No. 103 earlier this
season. Moulton-Levy owns a career-best World Singles Ranking of No. 237 in
2009, but has focused on doubles this year.
One of the most decorated players
in W&M and CAA history, Moulton-Levy was a two-time winner of the ITA
National Arthur Ashe Jr. Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship. A four-time
CAA Player of the Year, Moulton-Levy teamed with 2009 graduate Katarina Zoricic
to win the ITA National Indoor Doubles Championship and advance to the finals
of the NCAA Doubles Championship.
