WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Coming
off a tremendous road win at Virginia Tech this past week, the William and Mary
Tribe women's basketball team will look to make it two in a row on Monday,
November 28 when the College travels to Norfolk State. Tip-off in Norfolk is scheduled for 6 p.m.,

Tribe Storylines
- After posting an impressive, 19-point win over the
Virginia Tech Hokies in Blacksburg on November 21, with William and Mary Tribe
will be looking to win two-consecutive games away from Williamsburg for the
first time since the 2009-10 season.
- Junior guard Janine Aldridge posted her first career
double-double in the win over the Hokies, totaling 20 points and pulling down a
career-best 11 rebounds. Aldridge tied
the Cassell Coliseum record for most 3-pointers made, going 6-of-11 from
deep. Senior Taysha Pye and junior
Jaclyn McKenna each had 15 points, while sophomore Kaitlyn Mathieu added 13 in
the victory.
- The Tribe has now overtaken a series that was once
dominated by Norfolk State over the past 11 years, with William and Mary
winning the last nine contests by an average of 22.4 points a game. In the 18 meetings between W&M and NSU
dating back to the 1973 season, the Tribe holds an 11-7 record over the
Spartans.
Scouting Norfolk
State
The Norfolk State Spartans come in to Monday's game with the
Tribe boasting a 4-1 overall record on the season. The Spartans have taken care of business
early this season, posting those four victories over teams that have combined
for a 3-15 record so far in 2011-12.
This past Saturday, the Spartans won their second-straight game,
tallying a 76-58 win over in-state foe Virginia Union.
Norfolk State comes in to the season with a young squad,
having just a pair of seniors on the roster - Whitney Long and Tyisha
Bridges. Despite returning five of its
top six starters from last year's team, the Spartans were picked to finish last
in the 13-team MEAC conference in a preseason poll conducted of the league's
coaches.
Through five games this season, the Spartans have been led
by the aforementioned Long, who is scoring a team-high 15.2 points a game while
shooting 48.4% from the floor. Sophomore
forward Rachel Gordon has gotten off to a terrific start for Norfolk State,
averaging a double-double at 12.6 points and a team-best 10.6 rebounds a
contest. Classmate Rae Corbo is also
averaging double figures, pouring in 13.6 points a game.
Tribe Claims 19-Point
Win at Virginia Tech
On November 21, the Tribe traveled to Blacksburg and came
away with an impressive, 19-point win over Virginia Tech, 78-59. The road win was the first for the College
since it defeated George Mason in Fairfax, Virginia back on January 24,
2010. Junior guard Janine Aldridge led
four players in double figures in the victory.
Aldridge Posts First
Career Double-Double against Virginia Tech
In the Tribe's 78-59 road win at Virginia Tech on November
21, the College was led by junior guard Janine Aldridge. Aldridge posted her first career
double-double with a team-high 20 points and a
game-high 11 rebounds. Aldridge did most of her damage from beyond the
arc, matching a Cassell Coliseum record with six 3-pointers. Aldridge
finished the night 7-of-14 from the field, including 6-of-11 from deep.

Leaders
Heading in to Monday's game against
Norfolk State, senior Katherine Dehenzel and junior Jaclyn McKenna each lead
the CAA in a pair of categories.
DeHenzel leads the league averaging 6.3 assists and 5.5 steals a
game. McKenna, on the other hand, is
leading the CAA in both field goal percentage and 3-point field goal
percentage. The junior center is
shooting 64.9% from the floor and 62.5% from beyond the arc.
Pye
Sparkles in Season Debut
After sitting out the first three games
of the season due to a violation of team rules, senior guard Taysha Pye had a
strong season debut in the College's 78-59 win over Virginia Tech on November
21. Coming off the bench, Pye scored 15
points on 5-of-10 shooting in 23 minutes of action. The Preseason All-CAA pick also had three
rebounds and made 5-of-6 free throws in the victory.
