Milardo Places Third in All-Around to Lead W&M at Maryland Quad Meet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (Feb. 18, 2012) - The William and Mary women's gymnastics team earned season highs in two events and placed fourth in a quad meet hosted by Maryland on Saturday evening. West Virginia claimed the team title with a 194.800 and was followed by the host Terps (194.350), Rutgers (191.700) and W&M (191.175).

Senior Kristin Milardo highlighted the Tribe's individual performances and posted a career-high 38.850 in all-around to place third overall. The impressive score tied for the seventh-best mark in school history.

W&M opened the meet on bars where it recorded a season-high 48.400. Milardo and sophomore Jessica Pritchard both equaled career highs with a 9.750 to lead the team, while freshman Maggie Lundeen matched her season high with a 9.700. Freshman Stacia Ruse also came up big with a season-best 9.625.

Freshman Brandy Stover led the College on beam and nearly equaled her season high with a 9.750, which tied for fourth among all competitors. Milardo and sophomore Katie Durst also contributed to the team's score of 47.175 with a 9.625 and a 9.500, respectively. Durst's mark equaled her career high in the event.

In the third rotation of the evening, W&M moved to floor where it earned a season-high 48.525. Competing on floor for the first time as a collegiate competitor, Lundeen led the squad with a 9.775. Milardo also posted an impressive effort and nearly matched her season high with a 9.725, while sophomore Larson Lasek earned a career-best 9.700. Ruse also contributed to the team total with a season-best 9.675.

W&M closed the meet on vault where Milardo registered a team-high 9.750 to tie for third overall. As a team, the Tribe earned a 47.075 in the event.

In addition to Milardo, Ruse (37.600), Lasek (37.575) and Pritchard (37.000) also competed as all-arounders.

The Tribe will return to action next Friday when it competes at N.C. State.
