TOWSON, Md. (March 2,
2012) - The William and Mary women's gymnastics team placed second in a
three-team meet hosted by Towson on Friday evening. Towson earned the team
title with a score of 192.850 and was followed by W&M (190.325) and Yale
(187.950).
The Tribe opened the meet on bars and recorded the top team
score in the event with a 48.525. Freshman Stacia Ruse led W&M and placed
second among all competitors with a 9.775, which equaled her career high.
Sophomore Jessica Pritchard also equaled a career best (9.750), while senior
Kristin Milardo and freshman Maggie Lundeen totaled a 9.725 and a 9.650,
respectively.
Milardo and Ruse both registered a 9.550 on beam en route to
helping the team tally a 45.850.
In the third rotation of the evening, W&M earned a
48.050 on floor. Lundeen was the Tribe's top performer and nearly equaled a
career high with a 9.775. Milardo and sophomore Larson Lasek also came up big
with a 9.700 and a 9.625, respectively.
W&M finished the meet on vault and was led by Milardo's
9.725. Ruse's 9.625 also contributed to the team total of 47.900.
Milardo was the College's top all-arounder and placed second
among all competitors with a 38.700, while Ruse earned a career-high 38.550.
Pritchard and Lasek also competed as all-arounders and earned a 37.775 and a
36.625, respectively.
The Tribe will return to action when it competes at North
Carolina State next Friday.
