La Jolla, Calif. - The William and Mary men's tennis team wrapped up play at the prestigious Pacific Coast Doubles Championships at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club on Friday. The Tribe duo of junior Adrian Vodislav and sophomore Ben Hoogland highlighted the College's effort with a pair of wins in advancing to the third round, while junior Anton Andersson and freshman Will Juggins also recorded a victory in the opening round.

The Pacific Coast Doubles Tournament, which is in its 123rd year, is the second oldest tennis event in the United States. First held in 1890 at The Hotel Del Monte in Monterey, California, the event moved to the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club in 1943 and has been held there ever since. Past participants include such notable tennis stars as Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Ted Schroeder and Arthur Ashe.

Both Tribe teams notched straight set wins over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps teams in the opening round. Juggins and Andersson defeated Mac Cahill and Neel Kotrappa, 7-6 (1), 6-1, while Hoogland and Vodislav upended Victor Chien and Alex Johnson, 6-3, 6-0.

In the second round, Juggins and Andersson fell to the No. 6-seeded team from USC, while Hoogland and Vodislav upset the No. 9 seed at the event from Villanova. The Tribe tandem took the opening set from Kelly Donaldson and Thomas O'Brien, 6-4, before the Wildcat pair took the second, 6-3. In the decisive third set, Hoogland and Vodislav pulled out a 10-7 super tiebreaker victory.

Hoogland and Vodislav's run came to an end in the third round as they fell to the No. 7-seeded UCLA team of Nicolas Meister and Adrien Puget. The UCLA tandem was ranked No. 52 in the country in the Campbell's ITA Doubles Rankings released on Feb. 28.

The Tribe continues its West Coast spring break trip with a pair of dual matches. The College faces No. 13-ranked Pepperdine in La Jolla on Sunday, March 4, at 3 p.m. PT., before closing out the trip with a Tuesday, March 6, match at No. 42-ranked San Diego State at 2 p.m. PT.
