Tribe Men's Golf Seventh at Bash at the Beach

The William and Mary men's golf team completed the first day at the Bash at the Beach Sunday in seventh place, just 10 strokes off the lead after combining to shoot 298 (+14).  Xavier and Gardner-Webb hold the lead in the clubhouse of the 15-team field at Surf Golf Club in Myrtle Beach, while Vaita Guillaume (Campbell) and Daniel Kim (Gardner-Webb) each shot 69 (-2) to stand as the individual leaders.

Leading the way for the Tribe on Sunday was sophomore Will Smith (Avon, Conn.), who was one of just five players under par on the day with his round of 70 (-1).  Freshman Alex Hicks (Cape May Court House, N.J.) is tied for 25th overall in field of 92 after shooting 74 (+3).  Classmate Joey Shroyer (Victoria, Minn.), competing as an individual, also shot 74 on the day.  Sophomore Michael Bekken (Blacksburg, Va.) is two strokes back in a tie for 39th, while sophomore Patrick Leisure (Charlottesville, Va.) and junior Jeremy Wells (Hopewell, Va.) paired rounds of 78 (+7) to tie for 53rd overall.

The Bash at the Beach continues Monday and Tuesday, with one round each day.
