WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (March 11, 2012) - After an outstanding
performance against Navy last Sunday, William and Mary freshman standout J.J.
Jindra was recently selected as the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference
Rookie of the Week.
In addition to earning a
career-high 80.3 in all-around, Jindra also recorded career bests on floor
(13.2), rings (13.9), parallel bars (13.5) and high bar (13.7) en route to
helping the Tribe earn a 326.1 - 319.6 victory against Navy. His impressive
all-around score moved him into fourth place in W&M's all-time record
books. Additionally, Jindra tied for first on high bar versus the Midshipmen,
while he placed third on parallel bars.
In addition to excelling in the
gym this season, the Fairfax, Va., native has also distinguished himself in the
classroom and earned a W&M Provost Award for attaining a grade point
average above 3.5.
The Tribe will be in action again
on Sunday when it competes at Springfield.
