Tribe Women?s Gymnastics Competes at ECAC Championships

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (March 24, 2012) - The William and Mary women's gymnastics team placed sixth at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Penn on Saturday afternoon.

Penn edged Towson, 194.400-194.375, to win the conference title and was followed by Temple (192.450), Cornell (192.350), Brown (192.250), W&M (191.925) and Yale (191.450).

Freshman Brandy Stover highlighted the Tribe's individual performances, as she tied for the beam title by equaling a career high (9.775) in the event. Sophomore Jessica Pritchard also earned first-team all-conference honors with a third-place finish on bars (9.800), while senior Kristin Milardo garnered second-team distinction on vault with a career-best 9.850 - a mark that tied for the third-best score in school history.

W&M opened the meet on bars where it posted its second-best score of the season with a 48.650 - an impressive total that ranked second among the seven teams at Saturday's championships. Pritchard led the Tribe with a career-high 9.800 to earn first-team all-league accolades, while freshmen Stacia Ruse and Carleigh Wrobel narrowly missed earning all-conference distinction by tying for seventh with a 9.750.

The College then moved to beam, as Stover tied for the meet's top mark by equaling a career high (9.775). Milardo and sophomore Katie Durst also contributed to the team's total of 47.375 with a 9.625 and a 9.525, respectively.

Freshman Maggie Lundeen led the Tribe on floor with a 9.750 and helped the squad register a team total of 47.625. Ruse and sophomore Larson Lasek also came up big with a pair of 9.700's.

W&M wrapped up the competition on vault and tallied a 48.275. Milardo posted a career-high 9.850 to tie for fourth and earn second-team All-ECAC honors, while junior Jennifer Ware equaled a career best with a 9.725.

Milardo was the Tribe's top all-arounder with a 38.150, while Pritchard and Lasek both totaled a 37.425.
