WILLIAMSBURG,
Va. (April 14, 2012) - Earlier this spring, the William and
Mary football program teamed with several local businesses to hold a successful
fundraiser for Avalon, the ONLY emergency shelter for women and children in
Greater Williamsburg.
The results of those efforts were realized
Saturday, April 14, when the William and Mary football program presented a
check for $4,500 to Avalon in a brief ceremony prior to the team's annual
Spring Game in Zable Stadium. Avalon's Director
of Development and Communications, Kimberly Laska, was on hand for the
presentation.
Avalon provides support, strength, empowerment
and HOPE for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, as well as free
counseling to survivors and their families, legal advocacy and so much more.
Anyone interested in learning more about Avalon's
mission can find complete information at AvalonCenter.org.
