Richmond, Va. - The defending league champion William and Mary women's tennis team will be the No. 4 seed in the Virginia 529 Colonial Athletic Association Championships, slated for April 19-22 at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center in Norfolk, Va. The Tribe will meet the No. 5 seed Old Dominion in the quarterfinals of the league tournament on Friday, April 20, at 4 p.m. W&M has won 21 of the 26 CAA Championships in women's tennis, including last season's league crown.

W&M enters the conference tournament on a high note, having dispatched of 22-time America East Champion Boston University, 5-2, on Saturday. The College took the doubles point with wins at the top two positions, before receiving singles wins from senior Katie Kargl, juniors Anik Cepeda and Nina Vulovich as well as sophomore Jeltje Loomans. The College is 6-15 on the year following the win over the Terriers.

Old Dominion closed out the regular season with a pair of wins over Navy, 7-0, and Temple, 5-2, last weekend. The Monarchs are 12-9 overall on the year, including an 11-5 home mark at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center, site of the CAA Championships. Diana Ivanova leads ODU going 15-5 at the No. 1 singles position, while Aleksandra Mitrovska is 14-7 on the year, including 10 at the No. 2 spot.

Earlier this season, the Tribe won four of the six singles matches to register a 4-3 victory over the Monarchs in Norfolk. Sophomores Maria Belaya and Jeltje Loomans tallied wins at the top two singles positions, while junior Anik Cepeda and senior Katie Kargl won at No. 5 and No. 6 to clinch the win over the Monarchs. The winner of the ODU-W&M quarterfinal will meet VCU, Drexel or Towson in the semifinals at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21. The CAA Championship match is slated for 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 22. VCU, which is ranked No. 42 nationally, is the event's No. 1 seed followed by UNCW at No. 2 and Georgia State at No. 3.
