NORMAN, Okla. (April
19, 2011) - William and Mary sophomore Daniel Potemski qualified for the
NCAA Championships individual all-around finals by placing sixth in the Session
1 Qualifier on Thursday afternoon at Oklahoma.
Potemski earned an 82.6 in all-around, while his best
performance came on vault where he nearly equaled a career high with a 14.7 - a
total that tied him for 12th in the event during Thursday's first session. With
the impressive performance in all-around, Potemski moves on to Friday's
all-around finals, which will begin at 7 p.m. (CT). Live video of the finals is available by clicking here.
Freshman J.J. Jindra also competed as an all-arounder in the
qualifier session and placed 10th with a 78.0.
Multiple Tribe gymnasts competed on pommel horse and high
bar. Freshman Peter Ten Eyck placed 28th on pommel horse with a 13.4, while
classmate Jason Wang recorded a 13.1 to tie for 30th. Junior Kris Yeager and
sophomore Sam Patterson competed on high bar and earned a 12.1 and a 10.3, respectively.
Sophomore Landon Funiciello registered a 13.25 on floor,
while senior Steve Deutsch posted a 12.65 on rings and junior Futa Ikeda
totaled a 12.150 on parallel bars.
