Lucy Ferguson Honored as CAA Co-Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. (April 23, 2012) - After a pair of outstanding performances last weekend, William and Mary standout freshman goalie Lucy Ferguson has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Rookie of the Week. She shares the honor with Delaware's Caitlin McCartney.

The award marks the fourth time this season a Tribe player has garnered the honor, as Kaleigh Noon earned the distinction three times this spring.

Ferguson finished the week with 37 saves, a goals against average of 8.81 and a save percentage of .673. The Montclair, N.J., native's best performance came in the win against Hofstra when she totaled a career-high 23 saves. The impressive total marks the best single-game performance in the nation this season.

Ferguson currently ranks second nationally in saves with 172 - a figure that ranks tied for the fourth-best single-season mark in school history. Additionally, she ranks sixth in the country in saves per game (10.1).
