RICHMOND, Va. (April 23, 2012) - After
a pair of outstanding performances last weekend, William and Mary standout
freshman goalie Lucy Ferguson has been selected as the Colonial Athletic
Association Co-Rookie of the Week. She shares the honor with Delaware's Caitlin
McCartney.
The award
marks the fourth time this season a Tribe player has garnered the honor, as
Kaleigh Noon earned the distinction three times this spring.
Ferguson
finished the week with 37 saves, a goals against average of 8.81 and a save
percentage of .673. The Montclair, N.J., native's best performance came in the
win against Hofstra when she totaled a career-high 23 saves. The impressive
total marks the best single-game performance in the nation this season.
Ferguson
currently ranks second nationally in saves with 172 - a figure that ranks tied
for the fourth-best single-season mark in school history. Additionally, she
ranks sixth in the country in saves per game (10.1).
