WILLIAMSBURG - Former William and Mary men's basketball standout Bill Chambers, a 1951 graduate of the College, and his NCAA single-game rebounding record were chronicled in the Yahoo Sports' Blog: The Dagger, written by Jeff Eisenberg on Tuesday. Chambers' record was No. 4 in a 10-part series called the Untouchables that spotlights college basketball's most unbreakable records.

Chambers played at W&M from 1951-53, earning All-Southern Conference honors in 1952 and 1953 to go along with Helms Athletic Foundation All-America distinction as a senior. He set the NCAA single-game rebounding record with 51 against Virginia on Feb. 14, 1953. Along with averaging 20.2 points per game as a senior, he set a W&M record with 21.7 rebounds per contest in 1953. Chambers, who is one of five Tribe players to have their jersey retired at the College, still ranks eighth on the Tribe's career scoring list with 1,456 points. He later was the head coach of the W&M program, amassing 113 wins from 1957-66.
