WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (July 19, 2012) - William
and Mary standout senior cornerback B.W. Webb has been selected to the Buck
Buchanan Award Watch List, which includes 20 of the nation's top defensive
players in the Football Championship Subdivision. The Buchanan Award is given
annually to the nation's most outstanding defensive player in the FCS.
The 2012
preseason All-American has established himself as one of the country's top
cornerbacks throughout his career and earned first-team all-conference honors
during each of the past two seasons. Last fall, the Newport News, Va., native
finished the season with 40 tackles, 3.0 tackles for a loss and two
interceptions.
One of the
most-decorated players in Colonial Athletic Association history, Webb has earned
six all-conference postseason honors during the past three seasons. During that
time, he has totaled 11 career interceptions and currently ranks tied for
eighth on W&M's all-time list.
The Tribe will
open the 2012 season when it plays at Maryland on Sept. 1.
