WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The
William and Mary men's soccer team will host the Richmond Spiders on Saturday,
Sept. 1, at 7 p.m. at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field. W&M enters the affair with a record of
0-1-1, while the Spiders come to Williamsburg with a record of 1-1. Fans can follow the action online at

Scouting the Tribe
The College opened the 2012 season last weekend, playing two
matches in the VCU Nike Invitational. In
its first match against Butler, W&M generated multiple scoring
opportunities but played the Bulldogs to a scoreless draw. The Tribe concluded play in the invitational
dropping a 2-0 decision to tournament host VCU.
For the year, the Green and Gold has outshot the opposition, 35-29. In only his second career start, sophomore
keeper Bennett Jones was impressive against Butler. The Winston-Salem, N.C., native registered
seven saves in 110 minutes of action versus the Bulldogs.
Scouting the Spiders
The Spiders come to Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly
Field carrying a record of 1-1 for the year.
In its last outing, Richmond fell at Virginia Tech, 1-0. UR opened the season defeating No. 19 James
Madison, 1-0. Sophomore Timmy Albright
netted the Spider's lone goal in the eighth minute in the victory over the
Dukes. Richmond returns eight starters
and 21 letterwinners from last season's squad that posted a 5-12-1 ledger.
News and Notes
- Since the schools first met on the pitch in 1975, the
College owns a 22-3-3 series edge against the Spiders. In its last meeting in 2009, W&M defeated
Richmond, 7-0, in Williamsburg. In the
28 matches contested, the Tribe owns an aggregate advantage of 98-16 over the
Spiders.
- Through its first two matches, the Green and Gold have
generated thirty shots with 12 coming on frame.
Individually, sophomore Chris Albiston leads the Tribe with seven shots. Juniors Roshan Patel and Chris Perez along
with sophomore Marcus Luster have each accounted for five shots.
- In its next contest, W&M will travel to St. John's on
Saturday, Sept. 8, for an 8 p.m. affair with the Red Storm. The Tribe will look to return the favor in
Queens , N.Y., as SJU claimed a, 3-0, victory last season in Williamsburg.
- As voted on by the league coaches,
W&M was picked to finish fourth this season in the Colonial Athletic
Association. The Tribe, who received 69 points in the voting process, was
tabbed to finish behind Delaware, James Madison and preseason favorite Old
Dominion.
- Prior to the start of the 2012
season, three W&M players earned All-CAA preseason accolades. Junior Will
Smith garnered first-team accolades, while classmate Roshan Patel and sophomore
Michael Teiman were selected as honorable mention honorees.
