The William and Mary women's cross country team powered to victory Saturday morning at the 54th Annual W&M Invitational, scoring 22 points to easily outdistance the field of six other teams. Richmond was second with 41 points, and UNCW finished third with 98 points.

Tribe All-American
Elaina Balouris (Allison Park, Pa.) won the individual title in the 5K race, crossing the finish line in 17:39 under near-perfect conditions at the Eastern State course. Sophomore
Jess Cygan (Bethlehem, Pa.) was the next in-uniform finisher and fourth overall at 18:10, and classmate
Dylan Hassett (Alpharetta, Ga.) was sixth in 18:30. Junior
Clarissa Schick (Richmond, Va.) outsprinted a pack of Richmond runners down the homestretch to finish seventh in 18:37, and redshirt-freshman
Carolyn Hennessey (Herndon, Va.) completed the team scoring in 18:43, for 13th place. Rounding out the varsity seven was junior
Lanie Smith (Reston, Va.), 15th in 18:46, and senior
Katie Buenaga (Greeneville, Del.), who took 18th with a time of 19:06.
William and Mary is back in action in two weeks, traveling to Lehigh University for the Paul Short Invitational on Friday, Sept. 28.
