William and Mary senior Alex McGrath (Marlborough, N.H.) was named Runner of the Week on Tuesday by the Colonial Athletic Association, after leading W&M at the Paul Short Invitational last weekend.  It is the second weekly award this season for McGrath, who was also honored on Sept. 17.

Last Friday, McGrath led the Tribe to a runner-up finish at the Paul Short Invitational, beating four ranked teams in the process.  His 11th place finish in 24:23 led three other teammates across the line in the next six seconds, the best grouping of any team in the nation at any of the five big meets that were run.  On the strength of that showing, the Tribe was boosted to second in the region polls and to 23rd in the national polls.

McGrath and the Tribe return to action in two weeks, competing on Saturday Oct. 13.  The top squad will take on the Pre-National Invitational at Lousiville, while the balance of the roster will host the Tribe Open in Williamsburg.
