WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William and Mary men's tennis team will travel to
Charlottesville to take part in the 11th annual UVa Fall Classic this weekend
at the Snyder Tennis Center. The Green and Gold will have seven singles players
competing in the event to go along with four doubles teams. The Invite kicks off at 9 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Admission to the event is free.
The Tribe and host Cavaliers will be joined by Binghamton, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, East Tennessee State, George Washington, James Madison, Liberty, Morgan State, Norfolk State, North Carolina Wesleyan, Penn State, Richmond, VCU, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, giving the event a total of 17 programs competing. The Invite will be comprised of six 16-player singles draws and six, eight-team doubles draws. Friday's schedule begins with two rounds of singles, followed by one round of doubles. Saturday's schedule starts with one round of singles, followed by the final two rounds of doubles. The tournament concludes on Sunday with the final round of singles.
Senior Anton Andersson will take part in the Blue Singles Flight, meeting East Tennessee State's Richardo Pardon at 9 a.m. on Friday. Andersson's second match of the day will be at 1:30 p.m. in either the quarterfinals or consolation flight against either Jesse Feder of Richmond or Virginia Tech's Aaron Gomez.
In the Gold Singles Draw, junior Ben Guthrie is the No. 1 seed and will open play at 10:45 a.m. on Friday. He will face Binghamton's Eliott Hureau and then either ETSU's Jorge Varon or Ted Nilsson of Coastal Carolina in his second match of the day at 3:30 p.m.
Freshman Scott Huang will take part in the White Singles Draw. He will open competition at 9 a.m. against Morgan State's Richard King. The winner will face the bracket's top seed and No. 49-ranked Justin Shane of Virginia in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m. on Friday.
The Tribe will have a pair of players competing in both the Orange Singles and Red Singles Draws. In the Orange Draw, junior Ben Hoogland is seeded No. 3 and will open with Richmond's Aaron Wicker at 9 a.m., while sophomore Will Juggins faces with Coastal Carolina's Matias Di Pasquale at 9 a.m. as well. Hoogland will meet either Robin Lesage of Binghamton or Norfolk State's Peter Pello in his second match of the day, and Juggins gets either George Washington's Ulrik Thomsen or Roger Ribeiro of ETSU. Both Hoogland and Juggin's second match on Friday will begin at 1:45 p.m.
Junior John Banks and sophomore Aaron Chaffee will play in the Red Singles Draw. Banks opens with Penn State's C.J. Griffin at 12:15 p.m., while Chaffee meets the bracket's No. 3 seed Juan Ramirez of ETSU at 12:30 p.m. Banks' second match of the day will be at 4:30 p.m. against either Virginia Tech's Trpimir Kujundzic or Josh Record from College of Charleston. Chaffee will face JMU's Hugo Ramadier or Igor Broga of Norfolk State at 4:45 p.m.
In the White Doubles Draw, Banks and Chaffee will team and meet Virginia Tech's Kujundzic and Lovrinovic on Friday night at 7:45 p.m. Senior Adrian Vodislav and Hoogland will compete in the Black Doubles Draw and meet the Ward and Ward team from Morgan State at 7:15 p.m.
