Will Bass Leads W&M Men's Cross Country at Tribe Open

The William and Mary men's cross country team had four runners compete Saturday morning at the Tribe Open, hosting Fordham and Loyola (Md.) at the Eastern State course.  Fordham won the de facto dual meet, 17-66, and also had the individual winner in the race in Nicholas Synan, who ran the 8K distance in 25:29.5.

With the varsity squad out at the Pre-National Invitational, the Tribe's contingent was led Saturday by redshirt-freshman Will Bass (Nashville, N.C.), who took fourth in 25:53.0.  Classmate David Waterman (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) was ninth in 26:29.1, and sophomore David Gunnerson (Yorktown, Va.) finished off the top-10 in 26:42.9.  Redshirt-freshman Ian MacFawn (LaVale, Md.) was the fourth and final runner, taking 14th in 26:58.4.

William and Mary is next in action in two weeks, hosting the Colonial Athletic Association Championships for the first time since 2001.  The race will begin at 11 a.m. on October 27, at Eastern State in Williamsburg.
