Arlington, Va. -
William and May senior forward Emily Correal was selected to the Colonial
Athletic Association Preseason Second-Team on Tuesday, at the annual CAA
Basketball media day held in Arlington, Va.
Classmates Jaclyn McKenna and Janine Aldridge also garnered preseason accolades on Tuesday. Per College Sports Madness, McKenna earned All-CAA Preseason First-Team accolades, while Aldrdige took home second-team distinctions.
Correal enters her senior season as one of the most talented
post players in the league. The Venetia,
Pa., native posses the ability to score on the block and from the perimeter
which was evident as she poured in 18 second-half points in last season's CAA
Tournament first-round tilt against VCU.
In 2011-12, Correal averaged a career-high 13.2 points and 8.6 rebounds
per game, which included 11 double-double performances.
The 2012-13 predicted order of finish was also unveiled on
Tuesday morning as the Tribe was tabbed to finish in a tie for ninth in the
league. Delaware, who captured its first
league title last season, was picked to repeat in 2012-13. Meanwhile, James Madison and Hofstra were
picked to finish second and third.
In 2011-12, the
College flashed signs of its potential, as it recorded signature wins over
competition from the Atlantic Coast Conference and Big East. This season's edition of the Tribe will look
to build upon that success as it returns four starters and 11 letterwinners
from last year's squad.
Along with Correal, the Tribe returns four other seniors in
Janine Aldridge, Jaclyn McKenna, Chanel Murchison and Taylor Hilton. Aldridge, who is the College's all time
leader in 3-pointers made with 221, looks to continue her sharpshooting ways in
her final campaign, while McKenna is poised for a great season after averaging
10.1 points and 5.3 rebounds a year ago.
Murchison will be relied upon for her tenacious defensive and exceptional
leadership, while Hilton will push for a starting spot.
The CAA also announced on media day that the College's Feb.
14, home contest against Northeastern we be televised on the Comcast family of
networks. The Tribe and Huskies' 7 p.m.,
tilt will be aired on Comcast Sports Network Mid-Atlantic (CSN-MA), Comcast
Sports Network New England (CSN-NE) and The Comcast Sports Network of
Philadelphia (TCN-P).
W&M will get the 2012-13 season underway on Friday, Nov.
9, when it welcomes East Carolina to Kaplan Arena for 5 p.m. tip-off.
All W&M men's and women's basketball home games will be shown live over TribeAthletics.com. Games already selected for television will be subject to black out in certain areas. The Tribe Athletics TV package will be $10.95 for a month, $39.95 for four months and $69.95 for 12 months.
