The William and Mary women's cross country team remained highly ranked in the regional and national polls Tuesday, following strong showings at both the Pre-National Invitational and at the Tribe Open. The Tribe moved down one line both rankings conducted by the USTFCCCA, to second in the Southeast Region and 18th in the NCAA Division I.
At Pre-Nationals, W&M had a pair of top-20 finishers and took sixth overall out of 38 teams, beating four ranked teams in the process. Meanwhile, in Williamsburg, the "B" squad took on a number of state and regional opponents came out with another winning performance, its third in three meets at that level. For the season, the Tribe is a combined 85-6 in head-to-head competition.
William and Mary is next in action on Saturday, Oct. 27th, when the Tribe hosts the CAA Championships on Homecoming Weekend. The championship meet is being held in Williamsburg for the first time since 2001, and the Tribe will look to become the first host school to claim the conference title since 1997 (also W&M). The women's championship 6K race out at Eastern State Hospital will begin at 10 a.m., with the men's race following at 11 a.m. and awards ceremonies beginning at 12 p.m.
