The William and Mary men's swimming team made a bit of history late Tuesday night, earning votes in the CSCAA National Poll for the first time ever. The poll, which includes coaches from around the nation as well as an editor from
Swimming World Magazine, ranks teams based only performances so far in the season, not looking ahead to try and predict the teams at the NCAA Championships.
The Tribe was selected into the "Also Receiving Votes" category, after opening the year with big wins over Towson and Mary Washington. Voters also took into account the quality of individuals swims, which includes
Andrew Strait's (Henrico, Va.) national-best 54.85 in the 100 breast and several other top-25 performances.
William and Mary returns to the pool next weekend, traveling to Delaware to take on the Blue Hens and the UNCW Seahawks in the CAA Pod Meet. The 20-event meet will take place over two days, Saturday and Sunday Nov. 3-4.
