WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - In game one of the 2012 Green and Gold Series, the Green team defeated the Gold squad, 6-1, at Plumeri Park on Wednesday afternoon.
Senior RHP Brett Koehler earned the victory in the series opener as he allowed only one run in six innings of work. The Glen Gardner N.J., native was efficient yesterday as he didn't walk a batter in 61 pitches thrown.
Earning the start for the Gold team was Senior John Farrell, who allowed only one earned run in 4.1 innings of action. Offensively, freshman Connor Henderson paced the Green squad going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while classmate JJ Sarty finished the contest with one hit and two runs scored.
The series continues at Plumeri Park this afternoon with the first pitch slated for 5 p.m. In a match up of left-handed starters, senior Matt Wainman will look to even up the series for the Gold squad, while sophomore counterpart Jason Inghram looks to give the Green team a commanding 2-0 series lead.
Today's action from Plumeri Park is opened to the public free of charge.
