Scouting the Tribe
William and Mary is 11-10 overall and 3-4 in the CAA, splitting its last two matches against Georgia State and UNCW.  Redshirt-sophomore Paulette Grand Pre (Laguna Beach, Va.) holds the team lead with 2.39 kills and 2.76 points per set, with freshman Dessi Koleva (Torrance, Calif.) close behind at 2.31 kills and 2.68 points per set following her 13-kill, 10-dig effort against UNCW last weekend.  On defense, senior Shaylin O'Connell (Leesburg, Va.) leads at the net with 0.96 blocks per set, while redshirt-sophomore Devin Andrews-Lyssy (Santa Rosa, Calif.) leads on the floor with 3.08 digs per set.

Scouting the Dukes
James Madison is 11-11 on the year and 4-3 in the conference, currently in fourth place.  The Dukes are being led offensively by the pair of Natalie Abel (3.3 kills/set) and Danielle Erb (3.24 kills/set), and currently lead the CAA in digs thanks in large part to Katie Daorai and her 4.72 digs per set average.

Scouting the Patriots
George Mason is only 4-16 overall, but a more impressive 2-5 in the CAA and currently sixth in the conference standings.  The Patriots are being led in the stat sheet by Lana Zonjic, scoring 3.67 kills per set.  On defense, Danielle Cook is the top blocker at 1.1 blocks per set, and Bernetta Moore is collecting 4.68 digs per set.

The Series
W&M holds a slender 43-37 lead in the all-time series with James Madison, and will be looking to end a three-game skid against the Dukes with a win on Friday.  The all-time series with GMU also favors the Tribe, 40-30, after each team won 3-1 at home last year.

News and Notes
- The three teams in Kaplan Arena this weekend represent CAA royalty, combining for 19 of the league's 28 conference titles.  All three are original members of the conference, beginning play alongside UNCW and East Carolina in 1984.  W&M and George Mason have won a league-leading eight conference championships each, while James Madison adds in three more.

- Tribe head coach Melissa Aldrich Shelton '91 won the 300th match of her career on Sept. 22, leading the College to a 3-0 victory at UNCW.  Of Shelton's 302 total wins, 67 have come at the helm of her alma mater in 4+ seasons.

- W&M collected season-highs in kills, assists, and digs in the 3-1 win at Georgia State on Oct. 14.  The Tribe hit .241 as a team in the match, the eighth time so far this season that W&M has hit as well or better.  That is a marked improvement over the past two years, which had just seven matches of .241 or better total.

- Freshman Dessi Koleva averaged more than three kills per set against Hofstra and Northeastern to claim CAA Rookie of the Week honors for the third time in four weeks.  She was also honored as the Division I Player of the Week by the ECAC, a regional organization of more than 300 universities across all three NCAA Divisions.

- Freshman Carolyn Albright was also selected as the CAA Rookie of the Week, back on Sept. 3, starting a string of three straight weeks and four of five in which the league's best newcomer has worn the Green and Gold.

- With the in-season tournament schedule now complete, the College counted a total of eight all-tournament selections this season.  Senior Shaylin O'Connell was named to three of the four all-tournament teams, including both of W&M's home events as well as the Duke Invitational.  Paulette Grand Pre and Manon Murray each had two nods, with Grand Pre earning honors at the Tribe Invitational and the UNH Invitational, while Murray was one of the six-best players at both UNH and the Colonial Challenge.  Freshman Dessi Koleva was only named to one all-tournament team, the Colonial Challenge, but her terrific play lifted her to the MVP award.

- Each of the Tribe's first three victories came by a 3-1 count, the first time that each of the first three wins have seen the same score since 2000.  That season, W&M's first four wins all came by a 3-0 count.
