WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - After
an exceptional opening week on the hardwood, William and Mary senior forward Emily Correal was named the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week on
Monday. The preseason All-CAA selection finished
the week averaging 25.5 points and 15.5 rebounds per game. She shares the weekly distinction with Hollie
Mershon of Drexel.
In the season opener against East Carolina, the Venetia,
Pa., native tied a school record with 21 rebounds, while she poured in a
game-high 24 points on 10-of-23 shooting from the floor. On Sunday, in her return to the Pittsburgh
area, Correal led the Tribe with 27 points and 10 rebounds. The 27 points tied
a career-high, while the double-double was the 19th of her career.
With her 24 points and 21 rebounds against ECU, Correal
became only the third player in program history to record a 20-point and
20-rebound game. Additionally, she is
the first Tribe player to pull down 20 or more rebounds in a contest since the
1992 season.
The College returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts
Virginia Union. Tip-off from Kaplan Arena is slated for 7 p.m. Fans can follow the
