WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William
and Mary baseball head coach Jamie Pinzino unveiled the College's 2013 schedule
on Tuesday. The 56-game regular season
slate features 30 home games, which will be played at Plumeri Park. Additionally, the Green and Gold will compete
in eight games against four teams (Clemson, Virginia, East Carolina and UNCW)
that made the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
The College opens the season with a three-game series at
2012 NCAA Tournament participant and Atlantic Coast Conference member Clemson
(Feb.15-17). The Tribe will continue its
early-season tour of the ACC with a mid-week game at Virginia, which also made
last year's NCAA Tournament field (Feb.9).
After playing the opening four games on the road, the College will begin
its home slate with a trio of games against Siena (Feb.23-24) at Plumeri Park.
The Tribe will open the month of March hosting Ivy League
foe Penn in a four-game series in Williamsburg (March 1-3). W&M will continue its non-conference slate
with mid-week tilts at Liberty (March 5) and at Virginia Tech (March 6), before
hosting Rutgers for a weekend series (March 8-10). W&M will then host a pair of mid-week
games against Liberty (March 12) and VMI (March 13).
The Tribe will open Colonial Athletic Association play on
the road at Delaware on March 15-17.
Additionally, the College will play conference road series at
Northeastern (March 22-24), Towson (April 5-7), Old Dominion (April 19-21) and UNCW
(May 9-11).
W&M will open its CAA home slate against James Madison
on April 12-14, at Plumeri Park. In
addition, the Green and Gold will host league series against George Mason
(April 26-28), Hofstra (May 3-5), and Georgia State (May 16-18).
During CAA competition, the Tribe will play non-league
contests at East Carolina (March 26), Norfolk State (March 27), Richmond (April
2), and VMI (April 9). At home during league
action, W&M will host out of conference foes Longwood (March 20), High
Point (March 29-31), Norfolk State (April 10), and Richmond (April 17). On May 14, in a non-league matchup, the
College will play Old Dominion in Hampton, Va., at historic Memorial Stadium.
The 2013 CAA Championship is slated for May 22-25 and will
be held in Harrisonburg, Va., on the campus of James Madison University.
