WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The
William and Mary men's and women's soccer programs both earned the National
Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the
2011-12 academic year.
Squads that earned a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher during
the 2011-12 academic calendar year were honored with the distinction. Coach Daly's women's team posted a team GPA
of 3.31, while coach Norris' squad earned the accolade with a GPA of 3.06.
For the Tribe women, it marks the fifth consecutive season
that the program has garnered the NSCAA Team Academic Award and the 10th time
overall. "We are extremely proud of the
NSCAA recognition," stated head coach John Daly. "This makes five in a row,
which emphasizes the accomplishments of our team in the classroom as well as on
the field."
The men earned the distinction for the second time in
program history, as W&M first earned the accolade in 2004. "I am very proud of the guys for receiving
this honor," stated head coach Chris Norris.
"Having a minimum team GPA of 3.0 is a goal we set for ourselves annually,
and it's no small achievement."
