WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William
and Mary junior defender Will Smith was named to the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-East Region Honorable Mention team. The Avon, Conn., native capped his junior
year earning Colonial Athletic Association Third-Team honors, while he also
garnered Capital One Academic All-District accolades from the Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA).
"Will is very deserving of this
recognition," stated head coach Chris Norris. "He is an extremely
hard-working, conscientious individual. He embodies the ideal of the true
student-athlete. We are very pleased for him and proud to have him as a
member of the Tribe."
Smith, who is majoring in government at
the College, tallied four points on two goals this year. In the match
against Georgia State on Oct. 10, he netted his first collegiate goal in the
60th minute. Against Delaware in the Tribe's final home match of the 2012
season, the defensive stalwart headed in the game winner off a corner kick in
the 76th minute, capping W&M's three unanswered goal outburst in the 3-2
victory over the Blue Hens.
