WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William
and Mary women's soccer seniors Mallory Schaffer, Kiersten Harpe and Cortlyn Bristol were honored by the Virginia Association of Sports Information
Directors (VaSID) with All-State honors on Wednesday. Schaffer and Harpe garnered first-team
accolades, while Bristol earned second-team honors.
Schaffer earns VaSID First-Team distinctions for the third
consecutive season after finishing the year with 23 points on 10 goals and
three assists. In 2012, the Allison
Park, Pa., native became only the third player, all from the College, in
Colonial Athletic Association history to repeat as conference player of the
year. The 2012 Senior Class Award
Finalist also earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and
Senior Class Second-Team All-America accolades.
Schaffer ends an impressive career ranking seventh in school history in
points (96) and sixth in goals (41).
Harpe garners VaSID First-Team
distinctions for the first time in her career.
This fall, the Lake Mary, Fla., native earned first-team All-CAA and
first-team all-region accolades. The leader
of a stout Green and Gold backline, Harpe was part of a W&M defensive unit
that allowed just 14 goals, which ranked second in the CAA. Harpe finished her career making 65 starts in
71 appearances for the College.
A native of Chantilly, Va., Bristol
lands on the VaSID Second Team for the second year in a row. The 2012 All-CAA First-Team selection had a
season to remember as she finished the year with 13 assists, which ranked third
in the nation. Additionally, she
garnered second-team all-region honors and was twice named the CAA Player of
the Week. Her 13 assists in 2012 are
tied with Ann Cook '97 for W&M's fifth-best single-season total, while her
28 career helpers are tied with Natilie Neaton '95 for fourth most in program
history.
With their first-team distinctions,
Schaffer and Harper are the 15th and 16th players from the College to garner
VaSID First-Team distinctions, while Bristol is the 10th player to earn
second-team accolades.
