WILLIAMSBURG, Va.
- The William and Mary women's basketball team will begin its Colonial Athletic
Association slate this Sunday, when it travels to Hofstra for a contest
scheduled to tip at 2 p.m. Fans can

Scouting the Tribe
The College kicks-off its league slate at Hofstra with an
overall record of 2-9. On Wednesday
night, the Green and Gold fell to Winthrop, 81-70, at Kaplan Arena. In the contest against the Eagles, senior
Janine Aldridge paced the Tribe with 19 points, five rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Jazmen Boone turned in an
impressive performance that included a career-high 17 points, seven assists and
six rebounds.
For the year, senior Emily Correal is averaging a team-high
16.8 ppg, which also ranks third in the CAA.
The Venetia, Pa. native also ranks fourth in the league in rebounding at
8.4 per game. Senior Janine Aldridge is
pouring in 13.2 points per outing, which ranks ninth in the conference. The Massapequa, N.Y., native is the College's
all-time leader in 3-pointers made (255), which ranks seventh most in CAA
history.
As the team, the College is averaging 66.0 ppg, which ranks
fifth in the conference. Furthermore,
W&M is tied for the league lead averaging 16.0 offensive rebounds per
outing. The Green and Gold's 76
3-pointers and 6.9 per contest rank second in the conference, while its 3-point
field goal percentage (.344) stands in third.
Additionally, through 11 games, the Tribe is averaging 15.5 assists
(171), which ranks second in the CAA.
Scouting the Pride
Hofstra entertains the College in its CAA opener with a
record of 4-7. The Pride is currently
riding a three-game winning streak as it has posted consecutive victories over
Mississippi (72-63), Northwestern (63-54) and Norfolk State (82-47). This season, Hofstra owns a 3-2 record at the
Mack Sports Complex.
Senior Shante Evans paces the Hofstra attack pouring in 17.3
ppg to go along with 11.3 rebounds per game, which both rank second in the CAA,
respectively. Additionally, Evans is
just 32 points shy of becoming Hofstra's all-time leading scorer. Junior Anma Onyeuku averaging 8.9 points and
5.6 rebounds per outing, while senior Candance Bond is netting 7.5 ppg to go
along with a CAA leading 34 steals. The
Pride is coached by Krista Kilburn-Steveskey, who is in her seventh season at
the helm of the Hofstra program.
News and Notes:
- Sunday's
contest will be the 32nd meeting between Hofstra and W&M, as the Pride own
a 22-8-1 series edge. In a series that
dates back to 1939, the College will face off against Hofstra for the 14th time
in Hempstead, N.Y.
- In its last four contest against Hofstra, the Tribe is
averaging 80.3 points per game. Last
season, in an offensive showcase, W&M posted 97 points against the Pride
inside Kaplan Arena. The 97-point output
was the fifth highest in school history as senior Janine Aldridge poured in 22
points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor.
- Sunday's game on Long Island will be a homecoming for Janine Aldridge, Jaclyn McKenna, and head coach Debbie Taylor. Growing up approximately 11 miles outside of
Hempstead in nearby Massapequa, Aldridge returns home as a 1,000-point scorer
and the College's all-time leader in 3-pointers made with 255. McKenna,
who starred at Elwood-John Glen High School in Huntington, N.Y., arrives home
having tallied nine points and eight rebounds in W&M's last contest against
Winthrop. McKenna's hometown of Huntington is located just 20 miles
northeast of Hempstead. A graduate of
Massapequa High School in Massapequa, N.Y., head coach Debbie Taylor makes her
return back to Long Island looking to open league play with a victory on
Sunday. The contest at Hofstra will be
the second-trip to the state of New York for Tribe this year. On
December 30, the College played at Cornell University located in Ithaca,
N.Y.
- After the contest at Hofstra, the Tribe will return to
Kaplan Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 8, as it hosts UNCW in its Colonial Athletic
Association home opener. Tip-off in
Williamsburg, Va., is slated for 7:00 p.m. and fans can follow the action

- Senior forward Emily Correal, a
preseason All-CAA selection, has not disappointed this season. On two occasions this year, Correal has been
tabbed as the conference player of the week (Nov. 12 and Dec. 10). Additionally, Correal has posted career-highs
in points (30) and rebounds (21) during her final campaign. She started the season, against East
Carolina, becoming just the third player in program history to post a 20-point
(24) and 20-rebound (21) game. In
W&M's contest at Radford on Dec. 8, she became the 16th player in program
history to net 1,000 career points.
- The 2012-13 CAA predicted order of
finish was unveiled at media day on Oct. 16, as the Tribe was tabbed to finish
in a tie for ninth in the league. Delaware, which captured its first
league title last season, was picked to repeat as conference champions in
2012-13. Meanwhile, James Madison and Hofstra were picked to finish second
and third, respectively.
