Hough only had two
impactful years running for the Tribe cross country and track teams, but more
than left his mark as one of the top distance runners in the program's storied
history. A two-time All-American at
10,000m, Hough was also a part of the Tribe's 1990 NCAA-qualifying and region
championship-winning cross country team, serving as the team's second runner at
the national meet with an 83rd-place finish. His accomplishments on the track included the
1991 CAA title at 5,000m and the 1992 IC4A outdoor 5,000m championship, but are
noticeably headlined by his ninth place finish at the 1991 NCAA outdoor 10,000m
and 10th-place finish in the same event the following season.
Hough
still ranks among the all-time leaders in several track events, including fifth
among all athletes at W&M indoors at 5,000m and outdoors in the
10,000m. He graduated with school
records outdoors at 3,000m (8:17.01) and 5,000m (13:58.72), the latter
performance marking the first time that a Tribe runner had ever broken 14
minutes. His 3,000m school record stood
for the rest of the decade, and still ranks him fourth, while Hough's 5,000m
breakthrough was surpassed in 1995 and still ranks him 10th in school history.
