WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Winners of its last two matches, the No. 47-ranked William and Mary women's tennis team returns to the friendly confines of the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center for a pair of matches over the weekend. The Tribe will host Big 12 foe West Virginia on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m., before welcoming No. 30 South Carolina to Williamsburg on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m. Live stats for both matches will be available at TribeAthletics.com.

New for the 2013 dual match season, the ITA Women's Tennis Hall of Fame, which is housed in the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center, will be open for fans to enjoy during Tribe home matches at the facility. The ITA Women's Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame was created to celebrate the milestones in women's collegiate tennis. The Hall of Fame aspires to preserve the history and further the development of women's intercollegiate tennis through the collection of printed materials, trophies, photographs, equipment and other significant items.

Scouting the Tribe
The Tribe is off to its best start since the 2007 with a 6-2 ledger following a 4-3 come-from-behind victory at ACC foe Virginia Tech on Feb. 9. It marked the third 4-3 win of the season for the Green and Gold as the Tribe used four singles wins, including two in three sets to pull out the victory. Junior Jeltje Loomans and freshman Leeza Nemchinov recorded straight-set wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to get W&M on the board against the Hokies, before junior Maria Belaya tied the match with a three-set win at the No. 1 slot. Senior Anik Cepeda continued her clutch play with a dominating third-set in clinching the team triumph with a win at the No. 5 position. After entering the national rankings for the first time on Jan. 30 at No. 53 in the country, the Green and Gold ascended to the No. 47 spot in the national standings released on Feb. 12.

Scouting West Virginia
West Virginia enters the match with the Green and Gold at 1-3 on the year. The Mountaineers' lone victory of the campaign was a monumental one as they downed instate rival Marshall, 4-3, on Jan. 26 for the first time since 1998. West Virginia suffered losses to No. 57 Ohio State, Syracuse and Buffalo, the latter two on the road, by 6-1 scores. Louisiana-Lafayette transfer Audrey Wooland resides in the top singles slot for the Mountaineers, while Hailey Barrett and Ikttesh Chahal are 2-2 in the top doubles position. Wooland and Emily Mathis own the best doubles records for West Virginia at 8-4 and 11-3, respectively, including a 3-1 mark at the No. 2 post together. W&M leads the all-time series with West Virginia at 3-0. The last time the two teams met, the Tribe notched a 7-0 win at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center in 2006.

Scouting #30 South Carolina
After opening the season with three straight wins, No. 30 South Carolina dropped its last two matches entering the week to sit at 3-2. Both losses though came to national top 20 foes in No. 13 Michigan and No. 20 Clemson. Sunday will be a reunion of sorts as former W&M head coach and current Gamecock headman Kevin Epley returns to Williamsburg. Epley was the Tribe head coach from 2003-08, leading W&M to a 96-30 record with four CAA Championships and five NCAA Tournament bids. The USC lineup features two nationally ranked singles players in No. 59 Jaklin Alawi and No. 114 Katerina Popova to go along with the No. 57-ranked doubles team in the country of Alawi and Dominika Kanakova. South Carolina holds a 4-3 advantage in the all-time series with W&M, including a 4-1 victory in Atlanta last season as part of the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Gamecocks will travel to No. 49 VCU on Saturday, Feb. 16, before squaring off with the Tribe on Sunday.

News and Notes
- Juniors Maria Belaya and Jeltje Loomans were named the CAA Doubles Team of the Week on Tuesday. It marked the duo's sixth league weekly award over the last two seasons. The pair is currently 15-2 overall and 6-1 in dual-match play. In the Campbell's ITA National Rankings released on Feb. 12, Belaya and Loomans were ranked No. 4.

- The College has played 4-3 matches in four of it last five contests, winning three of those tilts. W&M opened the stretch, rallying for a 4-3 upset win over No. 19-ranked Mississippi at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center on Jan. 22. After suffering a 4-3 loss to No. 64-ranked Kansas State, the Tribe won each of its last two contests by 4-3 margins over CAA foe UNCW and Virginia Tech.

- Three Tribe players, senior Anik Cepeda, junior Jeltje Loomans and freshman Leeza Nemchinov, have posted impressive 6-2 singles marks during the dual-match season. Overall, Cepeda has won nine of her last 12 matches and leads the Tribe with 14 singles victories on the year, giving her 75 for her career. Loomans recorded victories in four of her last five matches, including wins over UNCW and Virginia Tech in straight sets at the No. 2 post, while Nemchinov owns wins in seven of her last nine matches and 12 overall.

- The Tribe will close out the month of February with a home doubleheader against Penn and CAA foe James Madison on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. W&M hosts the Quakers at 10 a.m., before meeting the Dukes at 4 p.m. Following the doubleheader, the Tribe hits the road for the entire month of March with five contets aways from Williamsburg.
