William and Mary women's basketball team travels to Colonial Athletic
Association counterpart Drexel on Sunday, Feb. 24, for a tilt slated to start
at 2 p.m. at the Daskalakis Center in Philadelphia, Pa. Fans can follow the action online at

Scouting the Tribe
W&M enters the contest on Sunday afternoon with an
overall record of 6-19 and a CAA ledger of 4-10. In its last outing, the Green and Gold
dropped a hard-fought affair at Old Dominion, 75-64, as senior Emily Correal
led the way with 26 points and eight rebounds.
The Tribe, who tied the contest at 50 mid-way through the second half,
finished the night with 36 points in the paint, 20 points off of turnovers and
21 bench points.
Correal is pouring in 16.8 points per game, which ranks
sixth in the CAA, while her 8.1 rebounds per contest stand ninth. The Venetia, Pa., native has recorded 17
20-point performances during the course of her career, which is tied for fourth
in W&M history. Classmate Janine
Aldridge ranks 11th in the league in scoring (13.4 ppg), while her 74 3-pointers
on the season lead the CAA. The
Massapequa, N.Y., native, who is W&M's all-time leader in 3-pointers made
(295), ranks fifth in CAA history in trifectas drained.
Defensively, the Green and Gold's 10.8 steals per game lead
the CAA, while its 14.8 assists per contest rank third. From long-range, W&M is connecting on 5.9
3-pointers per contest, which rank second in the league. As a team, the Tribe is scoring 62.0 points
per outing, which stands sixth in the CAA.
Scouting the Dragons
Under the direction of 10th-year head coach Denise Dillon,
Drexel entertains the Tribe with a record of 18-7 and a league record of
11-3. Inside the friendly confines of
the Daskalakis Center, the Dragons are 7-3 on the season, which included a
57-46 victory over George Mason on Thursday night. Senior Hollie Mershon's 26 points on 11-of-21
shooting from the floor paced Drexel over the Patriots.
Mershon's 18.9 points per game and 4.1 assists per game rank
second in the CAA. Senior Taylor Wootton
is netting 11.5 points per contest, which stands 15th in the league. The Rutherford, N.J., native is shooting an
efficient .511 percent from the floor, which ranks fourth in the CAA. As a unit, the Dragons rank eighth in the
league in scoring (60.5) and second in scoring defense (51.8). Furthermore, Drexel leads the league in field
goal percentage (.427 percent) and free throw percentage (.787).
News and Notes:
- Sunday's game will be the 29th meeting between W&M and
Drexel, as the Dragons own a 15-13 series advantage. Of the 13 meetings in Philadelphia, Pa., the
Tribe has been victorious in six contests.
- On Friday, Feb. 15, in a regionally
televised affair, the Green and Gold defeated Northeastern, 78-70, in
overtime. The win avenged an earlier overtime setback to the Huskies in
late January. Senior Emily Correal led the Tribe with 27 points and 10
rebounds, while classmate Janine Aldridge poured in 15 points. The
sophomore duo of Jazmen Boone and Kyla Kerstetter combined to score 24 points
as Boone finished the contest with 13 points, while Kerstetter poured in
11. W&M finished the contest with decisive advantages in rebounds
(41-33), points off of turnovers (29-11), and bench points (33-4).
- Earlier this season, seniors Janine
Aldridge and Emily Correal became just the 15th and 16th players in Tribe
history to net 1,000 career points. As of today, Correal's 1,298 points
rank ninth all-time in the Tribe record books, while Aldridge's 1,262 career
buckets rank 10th.
- Senior Janine Aldridge, who is the
College's all-time leader in 3-pointers made with 295, is in reach to become
W&M's all-time leader in steals. The Massapequa, N.Y., native is just
10 thefts shy of passing Jen Sobota '03 for the all-time mark (257). In
the College's outing at Northeastern, Aldridge set a career-high with seven
steals against the Huskies. This season, Aldridge is averaging 2.7 steals
per game, which stands second in the CAA. Aldridge and Sobota are the
only players in W&M history to tally 1,000 points, 200 3-pointers and 200
steals.
- On Tuesday, Feb. 26, in its 7 p.m.
contest against Georgia State, the William and Mary women's basketball team
will host Military Appreciation Night at Kaplan Arena. All active duty
U.S. Military members and their dependents, as well as all U.S. Military
veterans, will receive FREE admission to the game. Military ID's must be
presented at the W&M ticket office to receive free admission.
