Men’s Tennis Releases Fall Schedule

WILLIAMSBURG - The William and Mary men’s tennis announced its 2013 fall schedule, which includes six tournaments. Highlighting the fall slate will be the Tribe Invitational, Nov. 7-10, at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.

The Green and Gold will open the fall campaign for the third straight season at the Duke Fab Four in Durham, N.C. The event is slated for Friday, Sept. 13, through Sunday, Sept. 15.

The ITA All-American Championships, schedule for Sept. 28-Oct. 6, is the first of three national individual championship events for collegiate tennis and includes main draws of 32 teams in doubles and 64 players in singles. For the seventh straight year, the University of Tulsa will be the site of the ITA Men's All-American Championships. The tournament kicks off with prequalifying matches starting on Sept. 28, while the main draw is set to begin on Oct. 3. Selections for each round of the All-American Championships are released in September along with the national fall rankings.

The Tribe will take part in the UVa Fall Invitational for the 11th straight season. The event is slated for Friday, Oct. 4, through, Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville.

After competing in the Wake Forest Spring Invitational last season, the Tribe will take part in the Wake Forest Invite during the fall season for the first time. The event is scheduled for Oct. 11-13 in Winston-Salem, N.C.

W&M will take part in the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships, which will be hosted by Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. The regional singles and doubles winners will earn a spot in the exclusive USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., Nov. 7-10. The National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship is the second fall national championship event in college tennis and includes a 32-player singles draw and 20-team doubles bracket for both men and women. Last season, senior to be Ben Guthrie advanced to the quarterfinals in both singles and doubles competition at the ITA Atlantic Region Championships.

The Tribe will close out the fall campaign by hosting the Tribe Invitational for the eighth straight season. The event is scheduled for Nov. 7-10 at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
