William and Mary sophomore Dessi Koleva (Torrance, Calif.) was named to the pre-season All-CAA volleyball team on Monday, after the Colonial Athletic Association's coaches picked her as one of the league's top returning players in 2013.  Koleva was one of just two sophomores to make the team, while Charleston All-American Darcy Dorton was picked as the pre-season Player of the Year.

Koleva's first season in Williamsburg saw the talented outside-hitter earn CAA Rookie of the Year honors, and a spot on both the All-CAA and the all-state second team as well as the CAA all-rookie team.  She averaged 2.24 kills and 2.61 points per set in 2012, both the number-two marks for the Tribe, and added in 2.41 digs per set with six double-double performances.  Koleva was named Rookie of the Week four times, most of any first-year player, and was also tabbed as the ECAC Division I Player of the Week on Oct. 1.

Koleva and her teammates will begin their quest for a top finish in the CAA in a little under two weeks, opening the season at home with the Tribe Invitational on Aug. 30-31.  W&M will host San Jose State, Campbell, and Northern Arizona in the round-robin event, with two matches Friday beginning at 4:30 p.m., and four more coming Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
