Lisa Rayner '96 graduated as one of the most prolific field event performers ever to wear the Green and Gold and this spring she will take her place among the top athletes in Tribe history when she is inducted into the William and Mary Athletics Hall of Fame.

The Class of 2014 consists of 10 former Tribe legends, including Ashleigh Akens Rabe '94 (Women's Basketball), David Corley, Jr. '03 (Football), Ann Ekberg Saunders '03 (Field Hockey), Debbie Hill (Head Volleyball Coach), Tracey Leinbach '81 (Women's Golf), Carrie Moore '99 (Women's Soccer), Billy Owens '95 (Men's Soccer), Lisa Rayner '96 (Women's Track and Field), Trevor Spracklin '01 (Men's Tennis), and Dan Stimson (Director of Track and Field/Cross Country).

The event is scheduled to take place April 12, 2014 at the Fort Magruder Hotel and Conference Center.  Please contact Meagan Bedsaul in the Tribe Club's Special events office for more information at either 757-221-3365 or mmbedsaul@wm.edu.

Rayner is the only William and Mary female field athlete to earn All-American honors at an NCAA Championships, taking 11th in the high jump at the 1994 outdoor meet and placing among the top eight Americans in the event with her jump of 1.75m (5-8.75).

That performance came two months after she won the CAA title in the high jump, and during a year when she was also runner-up at the ECAC Championships indoors and fifth outdoors.  Rayner was named the Athlete of the Meet at the 1994 CAA Championships, adding a third-place finish in the long jump, fifth in the triple jump, and sixth in the 100m hurdles to her win in the jump.  Over the course of her career, Rayner would total 20 first-place finishes.

Rayner graduated in 1996 holding the College's school record both indoors and outdoors in the high jump, at 1.81m and 1.78m respectively.  Both records are still on the books, as is her indoor freshman high jump record of 5-6.5 and outdoor triple-jump mark of 38-10.25.

She was selected as one of the top 25 athletes in CAA Track and Field history, as she was named as a CAA Silver Star for the sport during the league's 25th anniversary celebration in 2009.
