What is your complete
name?
Thomas John Ptachick.
Is that a family
name?
Thomas is my uncle and my mom's father, and John is my dad's
dad.
But have you been TJ
your whole life?
Yeah, ever since I was born.
Where are you from?
Williamsburg, Va.
How did you feel
about making the leap to William & Mary? Is that something you had always
wanted to do growing up?
Well, I always thought about it, so yeah, I always wanted to
do it. My dad, Kevin, played, so it was sort of a legacy thing.
Living in
Williamsburg, do you participate in the history that goes on around here? Or is
it just something that's always been extra?
No, it's just been extra.
What music are you
listening to right now?
It's mainly rap and hip-hop.
Who's your favorite
artist?
Probably J. Cole.
What's your favorite
show?
Probably "Pawn Stars" on the History Channel. It's just
entertaining.
What's your favorite
movie?
I don't watch many movies.
Who's your favorite
athlete?
Carmelo Anthony, for the New York Knicks.
If you could have an
attainable human ability that you don't currently have, what would it be?
I'd like to be able to sing. I can't sing at all. And
everybody on the team sings, but I can't sing.
What is your favorite
meal?
Probably lasagna.
Growing up, you
rooted for...?
The Buffalo Bills.
What's your favorite
class at William & Mary?
Probably my marketing class. My Intro to Marketing class is
pretty fun.
Are you in the
business school?
Well, yes and no. I'm going to turn into another major,
since I stayed this year. And I've been taking business classes for a while.
So what is your
major?
Econ and minoring in business, but I'm going to turn it into
another major.
What are your career
aspirations?
I want to work somewhere in the business world. Right now, I
work at Davenport. It's a brokerage firm, so I could see myself doing that in
the future, too-being a stock advisor.
If you could play any
other position on the field, what would it be?
I'd probably go back to quarterback. I played quarterback in
high school, so I miss having the ball.
Who's the best
athlete you've ever competed with or against?
The one that everyone would know would probably be Dyrell
Roberts. He starts at receiver for Virginia Tech now, and he was pretty good.
He had like 3,000 yards rushing in high school. We played against them, and I
had like 20-something tackles against him. I think it was like 25 times in the
game, and I picked him off to win the game.
What's your favorite
quote from Coach Mike Godsil?
He adds the word "violent" to every sentence. So in every
sentence he has before the game and the night before the game, it's always, "Be
violent!"
What's your favorite
spot on campus?
To be honest, I like the Sadler Center, just because it's a
little slower than like going to the Caf. The Caf is really busy all the time,
so the Sadler Center is good place to eat. They have a little store down there,
and you just relax.
How would you
describe your position group for this year in three words or less?
We're really close to one another. We all joke around with
each other and make fun of each other. So "close-knit."
Who has the biggest
personality amongst your position group?
Probably the freshman, Joe Palange. Yeah, he definitely is.
What young player on
offense do you see having a breakout year next year?
Probably Flynn Heald, the receiver.
Your dream job in 10
years would be...?
My dream job would be to work somewhere in sports. Like
upper-level sports, mainly pro sports, somewhere in the front office doing something
for them.
