The William and Mary field hockey team brought its season to a close Friday night on the road, falling to No. 1 Old Dominion 2-0. The Tribe finishes the year at 6-11, while the Monarchs upped their league- and nation-leading record to 18-1 overall and 7-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association.
Despite the loss, the Tribe was able to accomplish something that very few teams this year have in holding the high-powered ODU offense to just a pair of goals. Senior goalkeeper Camilla Hill (Williamsburg, Va.) turned in the stellar performance in her final career appearance, making 10 stops. Hill lifted her season total to a career-best 86 saves, and surpassed All-American Claire Miller '03 for seventh on the career-charts with 238 saves in her four years in goal.
With its season now complete, the Tribe will await word on possible post-season accolades. the CAA awards and all-conference teams will be announced next week, with all-region and All-American honors being passed out the week before Thanksgiving. All-state accolades will be announced in early December, and national academic awards will be handed out in March.
