The William and Mary men's golf team welcomes 27 other schools to Williamsburg this weekend for the C&F Bank Intercollegiate, with three rounds scheduled for Sunday-Tuesday, March 25-27.  The Intercollegiate will once again be hosted on the famed River Course at Kingsmill, with a par of 71 and a length of 6,831 yards.  Livestats will be updated every three- to six holes, and can be accessed HERE.

This is the 35th year that W&M has hosted a spring men's golf tournament, with all but four of the events being hosted at Kingsmill.  In fact, the River Course has been the host for 28.5 of 34 tournaments so far, including 2007 when the first round was held on Kingsmill's Plantation Course and the second round on the River.  Kingsmill's 18 holes along the James River is also famed for hosting professional events, with the PGA Tour holding the Michelob Open from 1968-2002 and the LPGA Tour hosting the Michelob ULTRA Open from 2003-2009.  This fall, professional golf returns to Williamsburg with the LPGA Kingsmill Championship, Sept. 3-9.

In the 34-year history of the W&M spring tournament, no player has ever claimed the individual medal more than once.  Two players will have the chance to break that streak this week, including Jace Long of Missouri (the 2010 champion) and James Madison's Ryan Vince, who won last year.  Of the competing teams, James Madison has won the team title a record five times including 2011, with the Tribe (1981, 1982, 2005) second with three trophies.  In addition to W&M, this year's field includes: Appalachian State, Boston College, Bucknell, Delaware, Drake, Eastern Kentucky, Fairfield, Francis Marion, Georgetown, High Point, IPFW, James Madison, Longwood, Loyola (Md.), Marquette, Missouri, Old Dominion, Radford, St. Joseph’s, St. Francis (Pa.), St. Peter’s, UNC Greensboro, USC Upstate, Washington & Lee, Western Carolina, Winthrop, and Wright State.

The C&F Bank Intercollegiate is the seventh event of the year for the W&M men's golf, which most recently finished seventh out of 14 teams at the Bash at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  Junior Jeremy Wells (Hopewell, Va.) has been the Tribe's top individual, averaging 74 strokes per round with two top-10 finishes.  W&M has had three individual champions at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate, most recently Adam Holman '05 in 2002.
