William and Mary sophomore Elaina Balouris (Allison Park, Pa.) was named Track Athlete of the Week Tuesday by the Colonial Athletic Association, after turning in two outstanding performances last weekend at the Colonial Relays.  This is the first weekly award of the 2012 season for the Tribe women's track and field team.

On Friday night, Balouris ran a lifetime-best 16:19.89 to place sixth overall, and third among collegiate athletes in the 5,000m run.  Well-under the ECAC standard, Balouris' time also was the ninth-fastest ever run outdoors at W&M and ranks her eighth all-time among athletes.  In Division I this spring, she now ranks 28th nationally and 18th in the East Region.  Saturday, Balouris ran the second leg of the College's 4x1,500m relay that took second in 18:30.83.  That time is the fifth-fastest ever at W&M, and ranks third in the NCAA this spring.

Balouris and her teammates will be back in action this weekend, running at the Mason Psring Invitational in Fairfax on Saturday.
