Tribe Men's Golf Shoots 297 Saturday at the CAA Championships

The William and Mary men's golf team cut 13 strokes in the second round Saturday at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, shooting 297 (+13) and finishing the day in seventh place at 607 (+39) overall.  UNCW is leading the team race by a stroke at 596 (+28), while Delaware's Greg Matthias holds the individual clubhouse lead at 140 (-2).

For the Tribe, freshman Alex Hicks (Cape May Court House, N.J.) cut four strokes from the first round with his 74 (+3) on Saturday, and moved into a tie for 13th overall alongside classmate Charlie Kern (Seattle, Wash.).  Junior Jeremy Wells (Hopewell, Va.) had the team's best round of the day with a 72 (+1), and ascended the rankings to a tie for 21st overall at 153 (+11).  Sophomore Michael Bekken (Blacksburg, Va.) was close behind with a 73, and moved into a tie for 32nd at 155, and classmate Tanner Taddeo (Hendersonville, Tenn.) is 39th after shooting 79 on Saturday.

The CAA Championships concludes Sunday with one round.  The winner of the team championship will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional round.
