After the Fab Four event was moved from the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C., to the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on the UNC Campus due to inclement weather, Belaya and Johnson won their singles matches for the second time in as many days. Belaya downed Mississippi's Julia Jones, 6-2, 6-2, to even her season ledger at 2-2, while Johnson rallied for a come-from-behind three-set win. After dropping the first set to Ree Ree Li of Yale, 6-3, Johnson took the second set, 6-3, before winning the third-set super tiebreaker, 10-6, and evening her singles mark at 2-2.
Nemchinov won her second straight singles match over ACC competition in the consolation side of the A-2 flight to move to 2-2 on the year. The Tribe rookie only surrendered three games, in downing Wake Forest's Karen Forman, 6-0, 6-3.
W&M will return to action when it takes part in the Virginia Tech Invitational, Sept. 28-30, and the ITA/Riviera All-American Championships, Sep. 29-Oct. 7. Juniors Maria Belaya and Jeltje Loomans, who are ranked No. 12 nationally in doubles, were an at-large selection to the All-American Championships main draw in doubles and will both compete in the prequalifying singles draw, which will be Sept. 29-30 at UCLA, as well.
