W&M Women's Golf Moves Up Leaderboard at Penn State

The William and Mary women's golf team improved greatly Saturday during the second round of the Penn State Nittany Lion Invitational, cutting 11 strokes to shoot 314 (+26) and moving up the leaderboard to 14th.  Penn State is leading its own 18-team event by 20 strokes at 575 (-1), with Old Dominion in second.  Ellen Ceresko of the Nittany Lion is leading the individual standings by three strokes after two rounds of 69 (-3).

Freshman Alessandra Liu (Cynwyd, Pa.) shot 77 on Saturday to stay at the top of the Tribe's team leaderboard, finishing the day tied for 33rd at 153 (+9).  Senior Katy Hutcherson (Greeneville, Tenn.) had the team's best round of the day at 76 (+4), improving to 48th with a score of 156 (+12), two strokes ahead of classmate Betsy Birchall (Mountain Brook, Ala.) who shot 77 to improve to a tie for 60th.  Freshman Tina Chang (Mineola, N.Y.) improved five strokes overnight to shoot 84 and stand tied at 94th.  Sophomore Anna McMullen (Monroe, La.) matched her first round 88 with another Saturday, and classmate Kelly Okun (Palm Beach, Fla.) improved five strokes to card 86.

The Nittany Lion Invitational concludes Sunday with one more round.
