The William and Mary men's golf team finished the first day at the Cobra/Puma Invitational Sunday in a tie for 12th place, carding two rounds of 298 to stand at +20 overall.  Florida Gulf Coast is leading the 15-team field at 18-under (558), while Marshall's Nathan Kerns has a one-stroke lead in the individual standings with a two-round total of 135 (-9).

The Tribe was led once again by senior Jeremy Wells (Hopewell, Va.), who finished the day in a tie for 25th at 146 (+2).  He shot 74 in the morning, and came back an even-par 72 in the afternoon.  Sophomore Alex Hicks (Cape May Court House, N.J.) recovered from a morning 76 to shoot 73 in the second round, and is tied for 39th overall.  Junior Michael Bekken (Blacksburg, Va.) had the Tribe's best round of the morning at 73, and came back with 77 after lunch to stand in a tie for 47th.  Junior Tanner Taddeo (Hendersonville, Tenn.) shot 75-76 for a tie at 52nd, and sophomore Joey Shroyer (Victoria, Minn.) rounded out the team effort with scores of 76-79 to tie for 61st.

The Cobra/Puma Invitational concludes Monday, with one round teeing off in the morning.
