The William and Mary women's swimming team begins its 2012-13 campaign on Saturday, traveling to Maryland to take on Towson at 1 p.m.  This is the eighth year in a row that W&M has taken on the Tigers in the first meet of the year.

Scouting the Tribe
W&M enters the season with both large points to be replaced, and one of the strongest freshman classes in memory ready to do just that.  The Tribe returns just over 50% of its individual points from a fourth-place finish at the CAA Championships last year.  Veteran leadership looks to come from seniors Emily Bart (Cherry Hill, N.J.), Gabrielle Mizerak (Manassas, Va.), and Caylyn Tate (Sterling, Va.), the latter having set school records in both the 1,000 and 1,650 free events in taking a silver medal at the conference meet.

Scouting the Tigers
Towson saw its four-year run of conference championships end last year, but still returns one of the strongest teams in the CAA for this season.  Top competitors for the Tigers include double-gold winner Kaitlin Burke in the distance events, as well as sophomores Victoria Oslund and Amanda Barber.  Towson will begin the meet with a 32-point advantage, due to having three scoring divers in each of the two diving events.
