CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - William and Mary men's tennis junior Ben Guthrie and freshman Scott Huang highlighted the Tribe effort on the second day of the 11th annual UVa Fall Classic, winning the Red Doubles Draw with victories over the top two seeds. Junior John Banks also continued his strong singles play at the event as he advanced to the finals of the Red Singles Flight.

After winning their opening match on Friday night, Guthrie and Huang continued their winning ways in the semifinal with a 9-8 (4) tiebreaker win over the Red Draw's top seed in North Carolina Wesleyan's Kjellberg and Prostak. In the finals, the Green and Gold pairing upended Tuus and Azuero of Liberty, who was the flight's second seed, 8-5, to wrap up the event a perfect 3-0.

In other doubles action, the Tribe advanced three other teams to the finals of their respective flights, but could not pull out the titles. Banks and sophomore Aaron Chaffee won their White Draw semifinal, 8-6, over VCU's Voscek and Goransson, before falling to the flight's top seed in the finals. Senior Anton Andersson and sophomore Will Juggins downed Binghamton's Bornkessel and Burri, 8-2, in the semifinals of the Gold Doubles Draws, before falling to the Wake Forest duo of Delcore and Bloom, 8-4, in the finals. Senior Adrian Vodislav and junior Ben Hoogland also advanced to the finals of the Black Doubles Draw, before falling.

Banks won his third match in a row, including his second straight three-setter, to earn a spot in the finals of the Red Singles Draw. The Charlotte, N.C., native took the opening set, 6-0, before Coastal Carolina's Garik Yedigarian forced a decisive third set in the semifinal with a 6-2 win in the second. Banks pulled down the victory and evened his singles mark at 3-3, taking the final set, 6-3. He will face Virginia's Mitchell Polnet, who is the No. 2 seed in the flight, in the finals at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Chaffee and Juggins also notched singles wins on Saturday, winning their consolation matches. In the Red Draw, Chaffee rallied for a three-set win over College of Charleston's Billy Kenny. The Cougar player took the opening set from Chaffee, 7-5, before the Tribe sophomore bounced back to take the second, 6-2. Chaffee recorded his second win in as many days, taking the third set in a super tiebreaker, 10-5.  Juggins evened his singles mark at 2-2 with a 6-4, 6-0 triumph over College of Charleston's Zach Lewis in the consolation side of the Orange Singles Draw.

The Tribe will close out competition at the UVa Fall Classic on Sunday with matches starting at 9 a.m. The event is scheduled to be played outdoors at the Snyder Tennis Center, but if it rains, competition will be moved indoors to the Boar's Head Sports Club.
